  Before Night Falls
       


Reinaldo Arenas (born July 16, 1943 in Holguín, Cuba, died December 7, 1990 in New York) was a Cuban poet, novelist, and playwright who spent most of his life fighting a Fidel Castro regime through his art.

Ab initio existence pro the communist revolution in Cuba, he turned out of Castro in the 1960s & paid the price within existence censored and harassed. His 5 novels that include a poetic Farewell to the Sea and Palace of the White Skunks comprise the Pentagonia which relates a "secret history" of post-todays Cuba. Within 1973, he was jailed, on the grounds of his homoeroticism, & late forced to renounce his function.

In a period of the 1970s, he made multiple tries to flee Cuba, however failed. Inside 1980, he managed to escape from the united states after Castro allowed a mass exodus of homo & more unwanted souls. Since his prohibited function was such the vocal representation of the mixer & political problems around Cuba, Arenas was does'nt allowed to leave per government. However he changed his title to Arinas in his passport & was respire for out by having this trick.

He moved to Future York, however was diagnosed by using AIDS in 1987. When you took this instance he wrote his autobiography, Before Night Falls, which was on the New York Times list of the ten better books of the month 1993 and was made into the film in 2000. Alas, Arenas got already flushed himself by ingesting an overdose of doses & alcohol inside 1990.
